Dr. K.C. Varaprasad, Professor & Head

Dr. K.C. Varaprasad has been named the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Dr. Varaprasad, who received his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from G. Pulla Reddy College of Engineering, Kurnool, and his Master’s in Production Engineering from Sri Venkateswara University College of Engineering, Tirupati and Doctoral Degree from JNTUA, Anantapur, is known for his research in Production Engineering and for his dedication to Engineering Education.

Dr. Varaprasad previously worked for several premier institutions including AITS, Rajampet and SVCET, Chittoor for 10 years. While holding diverse capacities in his previous workplaces, he was instrumental in modernizing CAD/CAM Lab under AICTE funded MODROBS, was named coordinator for helping the Department of Mechanical Engineering to attain NBA accreditation for three times and NAAC grading. Also, he enjoyed the responsibility of being Internal Auditor for ISO Certification.

A Life Member of Indian Society for Technical Education (MISTE) and a Life Member of Institution of Engineers (INDIA) (MIE), Dr. Varaprasad partook in several National and International Conferences and published his research papers in leading National and International Journals.

Teaching at UG and PG level for the last 10 years, Dr. Varaprasad exquisitely dealt with many diverse subjects. To mention a few: Production Technology, Machine Drawing, Machine Tools, Industrial Engineering & Management, Elements of Production Drawing, Automation in Manufacturing, CAD/CAM, Unconventional Machining Process, Non Conventional Sources of Energy, Engineering Drawing, Engineering Mechanics, Flexible Manufacturing Systems, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Automation in Manufacturing Mechatronics, Computer Aided Process Planning, CNC Technology & Programming.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering in Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College was established in 2011 with an intake of 60. In the year 2012-13 intake has been increased to 120 With Diploma 60 Students.

Mechanical Engineering is the mother of all branches. The contribution of this branch is enormous in the growth of technology over the centuries. The scope of B.Tech courses varies from Material Reseach to Machinery Development, Nanotechnology, Smart Materials, Aerospace Technology, Missiles Technology, CAD/CAM, FMS, CIM, Automation and such other interrelated developments.

Seminars, Guest Lectures and Expert Lectures are proposed to be organized periodically for the benefit of students. Students are also encouraged to participate in Technical Symposiums/Paper Contests conducted by various other Institutions / Organizations.

Eminent personalities from various other academic institutions, Research Organizations and Industries, are invited to deliver Expert Lectures on various advanced topics.
