About the Department:

The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering was established in the year 1996 with an intake of 60 in B.Tech. Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE). The intake was increased to 120 in the year 2007 and subsequently to 180 and 240 from the years 2012 and 2014 respectively. The department is also offering M.Tech programme with specialization in Electrical Power Systems (EPS) from the year 2004 with an intake of 18 and it was increased to 24 and 36 in the years 2013 and 2014 respectively. The department was recognized as Research centre by JNTU Anantapur, Anatapuramu from the year 2013. The Department is headed by Dr. T. Nageswara Prasad, with 16 years teaching experience and is ably supported by 35 Faculty members maintaining 1:15, faculty: student, ratio and the department is supported by eighteen-teaching staff. The B.Tech programme was accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for 5 years in the year 2007. The placement record of the department has always been impressive.

Faculty and Staff:
The department has a blend of faculty with high qualification and rich experience in academics and research. Six faculty members in the department are having doctoral degrees and has expertise in various fields of electrical engineering. The broad areas of expertise include power system operation and control, power quality, voltage stability and applications of Power Electronics to Power Quality Improvement and Industrial Drives.

Facilities and activities in the Department:
Department has well equipped laboratories with a total investment of more than 80 lakhs.The department has been organizing a number of short term training programs, seminars, workshops, guest lectures by experts and student fests frequently. Faculty members are encouraged to participate in short term courses and workshops by the management of the college.

Electrical Technical Association (ETA) is a students' body for conducting career development programs to enhance interpersonal and intrapersonal skills of students. It organizes Seminars, Quiz Programmes, Industrial Visits, Paper Contests, Group Discussions, Guest Lectures, Career Guidance, Games etc under its auspices.

Students are encouraged to present papers and participate in seminars conducted in other engineering colleges and premier institutes. Industrial tours are arranged for students to obtain an exposure to industries. Many of our alumni are pursuing their higher students in IITs and globally reputed universities. More than 80% of the eligible students are being placed in reputed companies every year.

Reputed student chapters like IEEE and ISTE chapter are fully functional in the department. A variety of academic activities are conducted under the auspices of these chapters. Two IEEE journals are subscribed, apart from subscribing to on-line digital access of all journals. In addition to these, Alumni Chapter is in existence; where department interacts with them and gets feedback with regard to academic, placements matters. Their suggestions are taken into consideration in various developmental activities of the department.

Programme Educational Objectives:

  1. To impart basic and applied knowledge in Fundamental Sciences, Mathematics, Computing and Electrical power generation, transmission, distribution and utilization.
  2. To develop skills in design of electrical and electronic circuits, electric machines, analysis of electric power systems, problem solving in real time electrical engineering.
  3. To apply the concepts and principles of Electrical Engineering for needs of domestic, industrial and research and development.
  4. To inculcate professional values, ethics, leadership, teamwork and a strong drive for higher education and for effective engineering practice.

Programme Outcomes:
