Head of the Department
The Department of Information Technology was established in the year 1997 with a modest intake of 30. The intake of students has been increased from 30 to 60 during the year 1998-1999 and further increased to 120 during the year 2000-2001. Till date 11 batches of students have graduated. The department is accredited by NBA for three years.
The Department is headed by Dr. V. V. Rama Prasad, who has 23 years of teaching experience and is supported by 02 Professors, 02 Associate Professors, 02 Assistant Professors (SL) and 22 Assistant Professors. Three faculty members possess Ph.D. qualification, 24 faculty members possess M. Tech qualification and one faculty member possess B.Tech qualification. Among 24 faculty members, four faculty members are pursuing Ph.D. in various Universities.
The Department strives to inculcate conceptual and technical skills in students through a scientific teaching methodology based on lectures, case studies, seminars, group discussions, project works, assignments, quizzes etc. These activities are supported by modern teaching aids such as Overhead projector, LCD projector etc.
The systematic approach to problem solving is emphasized in the classrooms and laboratories as well as through the course projects and additional computer training beyond the scope of the syllabus. The laboratory exercises are designed to implement the latest software and tools of the industry.
Seminars, Guest Lectures and Expert Lectures are organized periodically for the benefit of students and faculty.
Students are also encouraged to participate in Technical Symposiums/Paper Contests conducted by various other organizations. TAIT (Technical Association of Information Technology) is a students forum for conducting various activities to develop inter/intra personal skills among students. TAIT organizes technical events like Seminars, Quiz Programmes, Industrial Visits, Paper Contests, Group Discussions, debates and career guidance.
Faculty members are encouraged to participate in Seminars/FDP’s/Conferences conducted by various institutions. Eminent personalities from various other academic institutions, Research Organizations and Industries, are invited to deliver expert lectures in certain advanced subjects.
LABORATORY FACILITIES
The Computer Laboratory of the Information Technology Department has extensive computational resources with several computers, which are linked to the high speed institute LAN (Local Area Network). The Laboratory has excellent infrastructure and Comprise of various applications under Windows and Linux/Unix platform.

The Department of Information Technology has its own library with well stocked books and are related to Undergraduate (B. Tech-Information Technology) and Postgraduate (M. Tech-Software Engineering) programmes. The collection consists of Text Books, Lecture Manuals, Laboratory Manuals, Digital Media Content, Journals, Periodicals, Online IEEE Journals, and Project Reports etc. The Department library also has its own computers with internet facility.
