The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in the year 1996 along with the College with a modest intake of 60 in its UG Programme. The intake has been increased to 120 in the year 2000, besides an additional 20% under lateral entry scheme.

The Department has three PG programmes namely Digital Electronics and Communication Systems (DECS) started in the year 2008, VLSI in 2009 and Communication Systems (CMS) in 2011 with an intake of 18 in each programme. The intake has been increased in VLSI from 18 to 24 in the year 2012.

The department is accredited by NBA of AICTE for 3 years starting from March 2007 and applied for reaccreditation.

Faculty & Staff
The Department is headed by Prof. P.V. Ramana. The Department is adequately staffed with 35 faculty members with 14:1 student faculty ratio. The department has 5 Professors, 3 Associate Professors and 27 Assistant Professors. Most of the faculty members have either Ph.D. or PG qualifications. The Department is also supported with eight non-teaching staff.
