  CN & IS (Computer Networks and Information Security)

Profile of the Department

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in the year 1996 along with the College with a modest intake of 60 in its UG programme. The intake has been increased to 120 in the year 2000, besides an additional 20% under lateral entry scheme.

The Department has two PG programmes namely Computer Science (CS) started in the year 2004 and Computer Networks and Information Security (CN & IS) in 2011 with an intake of 18 in each programme.

The department is accredited by NBA of AICTE for 3 years starting from March 2007 and applied for reaccreditation.

Faculty & Staff
The department is headed by Prof. D. Jatin Das who has over 32 years of experience in various fields like teaching, industry and administration. Department is also ably supported by Dr. A. Senguttuvan, Dean who has an excellent, teaching and research experience. The Department is adequately staffed with 35 faculty members with 15:1 student faculty ratio, exceeding the requirements of AICTE norms. The department has 5 Professors, 4 Associate Professors and 26 Assistant Professors. Most of the faculty members have either Ph.D. or PG qualifications. The Department is also supported with six non-teaching staff.

Separate laboratories are provided for UG & PG programmes. The Department is well equipped with 150 Computer Systems with latest configuration and also has a separate Department Library with Latest Titles, Editions, Journals, Magazines and also connected with Internet Facility. The department organizes seminars, workshops and guest lectures to enhance the Technical Skills of the students, so that they can face global competition.

Computer Engineers Technical Association (CETA) organizes regularly curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for the all round development of students.

Student Guardian Scheme is in operation. About 10-15 students are attached to each teacher to guide, motivate and counsel them in academic & other related matters.
